On the platform 89plus artists who are born after 1989 can be represent themself. Behind it are the curators Hans Ulrich Obrist and Simon Castets. Learn why 1989 was a turning point in the history of art and how curators are not superfluous.
They come from South Africa, Kuwait, China, Australia, the USA and Argentina. They paint pictures, or video art. The political, sociological and economic contexts within which they do their art could not be more different. And yet they entered a very crucial thing: They are the first generation of artists who grew up with the Internet completely. Young creatives who have indeed often no studio had never been part of an exhibition, and the world via the Internet may still proclaim: Here I am, and this is my art.
