Buffer Zone, organized in 2013 in collaboration with Uqbar from Berlin and EMAA (European Mediterranean Art Association) from Nicosia, is an experimental workshop and a cultural collaboration project within cultural organizers and artists. Besides offering a mobile experience with the process, involving the dynamics of collective living and production, bufferzone aims to contemplate about the concepts of disunity and borders through their various layers.
‘Sketching the Buffer Zone’ is a project that manifests its behind-the-scenes in order to share different research topics that emerged during the workshop and the artists’ opinions on bufferzone, with the audience. Following the project, the final productions of the artists will be presented as an exhibition and a publication in October in İstanbul and in 2014 in Berlin.
Since the first workshop Reciprocal Visit in 2009, Apartment Project organizes experimental workshops that gather/bring artists, initiatives and art operators from various geographies together. In these workshops it fosters an experimental process that focuses on transition and borders, cultural similarities, conflicts as well as encouraging collaborations amongst the artists.
