„Don’t put your pictures on the wall, it’s gonna be over in six months.“
Whatever Open the door and pass the curtain, to the left a short-narrow staircase, five steps through bottles of beer and you’re at the bar. Don’t mistake this is as a run-down place: it never was on top. The name is the agenda. What doesn’t matter is what the barkeeper feels doesn’t matter.
Hamburg, Karoviertel, pub, soccer, record player. Everybody is a dj here if they enlist in the green book. No musical control, no salary, no forgiveness. Livingroom and Sociohabitat of it’s time, a grown myth. 18 years, 50.024 hours of operation. Subsequently moved out, dismantled and transformed. Transcended from geographical location into situational presence. This project is an investigation of societies context to wear, tear and use.
It archives, documents, disfluently lingers in the present day, being as much a domain of possibility and stimulus as it is a romantic memorial. For this purpose, we are attended by the means of photography, performance, furniture, imagination and participation. Being an incentive installation, exploring future possibilities and making inquiries about the primal, the relevant, the impact of space and location and their movability, their transformation and their evolution… a collective need ? … it identifies as a trial arrangement in museal settings. Hamburg, Leipzig, Paris, Kassel .. Whatever.
