Searching Traces was a workshop exploring how processes of forced migration can be reflected within film and video. The workshop took place in December 2014 at SALT and was organized by InEnArt in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. On April 17th, InEnArt will present four movies resulting from this workshop at Studio X in Istanbul. They were developed by migrants who found a new home in a host country like Turkey after their home countries fall apart.

During the workshop the participants reflected on processes of forced migration in an artistic way. They were trained to use their mobile devices for film making and how to adapt specific techniques to express the thoughts and experiences they are dealing with. Entiteled Searching Traces they had the opportunity to treat the difficult daily life conditions they are facing in a foreign country without any hope for an immediate return in a fictional way.

Different videos came out of the workshop conducted by Ziad Homsi, Sabine Küper-Büsch and Thomas Büsch. Four short films are now picked to be screened in attendance of the filmmakers:

We will return by Hosam Abuu Ali and Renas Mele

Instable by Nadine Lahham

Beyond the Station by Bassel Halabi and Mohammad Fares

To a Friend by Moawia Shannan
