We are pleased to inform you about the launch of StreetWalking on this occasion of the workshop series Searching Traces with displaced people in Istanbul.
The Goethe-Institut in partnership with the InEnArt team, the Syrian Turkish Cultural initiative Hamish and the community initiative for Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Turkey, AD.DAR, is hosting a serial of educational events for displaced people in Istanbul under the title Searching Traces which will take place between December 13th and 20th.
You are invited to celebrate with us the launch of StreetWalking and Searching Traces and its web extension with a general introduction, film screenings, music and a cocktail at Cezayir, Firuzağa Mh., Hayriye Cd No:16, Beyoğlu in Istanbul on December 11 at 7 pm.
StreetWalking is a reflection of the urban methamorphosis based on topics like culture, politics, social values, gentrification and commercialisation of the society and becomes an examination of urban transformation by displaced people. It aims to become an unique platform for the demands of the inhabitants of Istanbul and Berlin during an urban transformation process which normally doesn’t consider the needs of the population.
StreetWalking will become a collective narration through the common use of mobile communication devices such as smartphones: residents of different districts in Istanbul and Berlin will develop new forms of expression in workshops to discover their environment in pictures. These movies will be published finally in real-time using the mobile devices.
This mobile archive shall engage further debates and shall expand the knowledge about city planing, designed environment, urbanization and the needs and demands of its residents.
