Kadir Amigo Memiş in Tarabya

Kadir Amigo Memis is a dancer based in Berlin who creates choreographies and co-founded the urban dance community Dance Unity.

In April he performed in the garden of the Cultural Academy Tarabya during his Fellowship there.

Kadir Amigo Memis was born in 1974 in Bilecik, Turkey. He came to Berlin at the age of 10. His parents were the first generation of Turkish migrant workers in Germany. Memis describes himself as an ‘Urban Nomad’ and a collector, who is inspired by gestures, lines, moves, birds, smells, colours, sounds and lights of the cities and his environment.

He reproduces these influences in his choreographies and referees in his understanding of dance to the tradition of calligraphy.
