Julia Lazarus

Julia Lazarus is an independent filmmaker and artist based in Berlin. She studied at the UdK, Berlin and at the Calarts, Los Angeles. Since 2001 she has been making films and photographic works, which have been shown internationally. Her films are in distribution at sixpackfilm Vienna and e-flux, Berlin, New York.

The work of Julia Lazarus aims at the abstraction of the seen. It does not simply show a reflection of actuality, but approaches a construction of reality. By this it refers to the paradigms of the documentary as well as to the topoi of the romanticism.
